Daughters of the Desert are comprised of
Zina bint Badia and
Zoraya.
Our goals are basic, dance and music education, community and above all else, fun! We believe Middle Eastern Belly Dance (MED) is rooted in positive spirit, fun, sense of self and, most importantly, attitude! We work towards becoming a positive influence in our dance community by sponsoring workshops and community events that showcase what we have fun doing...belly dance. We hope our fun, positive energy and attitude toward this art form in which we revel will inspire new students, encourage those longing for the ultimate drum solo and revive dormant stirrings of creativity.
Daughters of the Desert is a dance co-operative focused, not just on the dance, but the music as well. We've all heard this question posed, "Which came first, the chicken or the egg"? We ask the same question, "Which came first, the music or the dance?" We aspire in bringing the music and dance, the musician and dancer together; each weaving their magic separately yet harmoniously in sync.
Daughters of the Desert is about promoting awareness and understanding of both music and dance resulting in a more creative level of performance and enjoyment of the art form we are working to further. With that in mind, our site advocates teachers and teachings of all positive forms of MED and the music of the culture we are promoting.
We welcome all constructive suggestions, comments and views regarding our website, workshops, and any future instructor ideas.
Daughters of the Desert is available for instruction, corporate events, birthdays/surprises, retirement and theme parties, also weddings and special events.
